Can You Park in the Emergency Lane to Change Drivers?
1 Answers
Parking in the emergency lane to change drivers is not allowed, unless there are some unavoidable special circumstances that require a brief stop to quickly switch drivers. In such cases, the vehicle must turn on the hazard lights and follow the regulations, avoiding prolonged stops. The emergency lane is a lifeline, and private vehicles are not permitted to occupy it. Only when a vehicle experiences a breakdown or encounters an unsolvable issue, can it temporarily stop in the emergency lane to request assistance, ensuring personal safety. Under normal circumstances, drivers are only allowed to switch in service areas. If a driver suddenly feels unwell or encounters an emergency, they can make a temporary stop, turn on the hazard lights, quickly resolve the issue, and leave. If it is nighttime, the width marker lights and rear lights should also be turned on to alert approaching vehicles.
