Can You Park and Rest in the Emergency Parking Lane?

Emergency parking lanes are not for parking and resting. There is no mandatory regulation on how long a vehicle can stay in an emergency parking lane, but the vehicle must leave the lane once the accident is resolved or the fault is fixed. Emergency parking lanes are designated for emergency stops only, and vehicles without faults are strictly prohibited from parking in the lane for extended periods. They cannot be used for passage. Any vehicle driving in an emergency parking lane is considered a violation. Precautions for parking in the emergency lane are as follows: 1. If you encounter an unsolvable issue such as a vehicle fault, park in the emergency parking lane, turn on the hazard warning lights, and place a warning sign 150 meters behind the vehicle. 2. During nighttime, rain, fog, or other adverse weather conditions, also turn on the side marker lights, tail lights, and rear fog lights. All passengers must move to a safe area, and if necessary, call the highway emergency number for assistance. 3. In case of traffic congestion ahead, parking or queuing in the emergency parking lane is prohibited. 4. Vehicle repairs are not allowed on highway bridges crossing rivers. If a driver's vehicle breaks down and needs to stop in a queue but fails to immediately turn on the hazard warning lights or move the vehicle to a non-obstructive location, or if the vehicle is difficult to move after a breakdown or accident and fails to use lights or set up warning signs as required, the driver may be fined 200 yuan.
