Can You Make a U-turn Without Waiting for the Red Light?

Yes. Motor vehicles can make a U-turn at locations where there are no signs or markings prohibiting U-turns or left turns, provided they do not obstruct the normal passage of other vehicles or pedestrians. Here is additional information: Article 49 of the "Implementation Regulations of the Road Traffic Safety Law" states: Motor vehicles are not allowed to make U-turns at locations with signs or markings prohibiting U-turns or left turns, as well as at railway crossings, pedestrian crosswalks, bridges, sharp curves, steep slopes, tunnels, or other hazardous sections. Motor vehicles can make U-turns at locations without signs or markings prohibiting U-turns or left turns, but they must not obstruct the normal passage of other vehicles or pedestrians. Traffic regulations: As long as there are no signs prohibiting U-turns or left turns in the left-turn lane, a U-turn is permitted. However, drivers should make the U-turn when the left-turn signal is green and avoid doing so when it is red. When attempting a U-turn during a red light, the pedestrian crossing signal would be green, and the U-turn could interfere with pedestrian traffic, hence it is not allowed. A U-turn is equivalent to two consecutive left turns. If left turns are prohibited during a red light, U-turns are naturally also prohibited.
