Can You Do Car Painting by Yourself?

Car painting can be done by yourself, follow these steps: 1. First, clean the car body with water, use a sanding block to flatten the sandpaper, then wet sand the scratches until the edges are smooth. 2. Use a spreader to evenly apply putty on the scratched surface and wait for it to dry completely. 3. After drying, wet sand the putty with sandpaper until the putty surface is flush with the paint surface. 4. Mask the surrounding parts of the scratch, and once properly masked, you can start painting. 5. When spraying, maintain a distance of about 20 cm from the object being painted, press the nozzle for even spraying, and multiple coats will yield better results. Additional tips: 1. When applying multiple coats, ensure an interval of at least 10 minutes between coats to allow the paint to dry, preventing runs. If runs occur, wait for them to dry, then sand them smooth and spray from a distance to cover. Once the paint is completely dry, you can apply a clear coat to enhance gloss, protect the paint, and improve durability. 2. For correct spraying, the spray path should be perpendicular to the surface. To achieve a wetter, darker, and thicker coat, spray closer; for a drier, lighter, and thinner coat, spray farther. For uniform thickness, use a cross-spraying method followed by horizontal spraying.
