Headlights cannot be replaced by just changing the cover. Generally, individual headlight covers are not available for purchase. Moreover, replacing only the outer shell may result in poor sealing, leading to water ingress into the headlight assembly, which can affect the wiring harness. Precautions for Headlight Replacement: Maintain proper sealing of the headlights, especially to prevent contamination or damage to the reflector coating. When replacing bulbs or diffuser glass, avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers to prevent leaving sweat or oil marks that could tarnish the reflector and reduce its efficiency. Regular Inspection: Regularly check and adjust the headlight beam to ensure the illumination distance meets requirements and that the high and low beams are aligned correctly. The diffuser glass should be installed properly as specified to prevent loosening or misalignment, maintaining the vertical alignment of the prism.

In most cases, car headlight covers are not sold separately. I once helped a friend deal with this issue when his headlight cover was cracked by a stone. After checking with 4S shops and several major auto parts markets, we found that nowadays they mostly sell the entire headlight assembly, including the housing, cover, and internal reflector. This is because manufacturers design the cover and base as an integrated unit, and DIY disassembly often leads to sealing issues causing water ingress and fogging. Even if you occasionally find aftermarket covers sold separately, the lighting performance tends to be inconsistent after installation - you'll notice obviously uneven beam patterns during highway driving. The bigger problem is aging - if you only replace the cover, the difference in light transmission between old and new covers becomes very noticeable during night driving. Therefore, I recommend replacing the entire headlight unit for better peace of mind.
