Vehicle Management Offices are closed on weekends and statutory holidays, and thus cannot process license plates. Their working hours are from Monday to Friday. On weekends and national holidays, there are no staff available to handle business. As Vehicle Management Offices are government departments, their working hours are generally fixed. The standard working hours are from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. This is also the designated time for license plate processing, which can only be done during these hours. Required documents for license plate processing: Original and photocopy of ID card (if an agent is handling the process, both the agent's and the owner's IDs must be provided), original and photocopy of the invoice, original and photocopy of the vehicle qualification certificate, original and photocopy of the compulsory insurance policy, and the tax payment certificate. License plate processing procedure at Vehicle Management Offices: Take a photo: Print or clearly write the last four digits of the vehicle identification number (VIN) on a piece of paper and place it at the lower right corner of the front windshield for photographing. Make an imprint: Two copies of the engine number and three copies of the VIN imprint are required for license plate processing. This step is usually performed in the inspection area of the Vehicle Management Office. Criminal investigation: After obtaining the imprinted engine number and VIN, fill out the criminal investigation vehicle inspection data collection form at the criminal investigation inspection room. Submit the imprinted numbers and the collection form to the counter staff for data entry, and obtain the criminal investigation vehicle inspection notice from the public security bureau. Then, proceed to the data collection window at the Vehicle Management Office, fill out the motor vehicle registration application form, submit the documents, and pay the service fee at the designated window. Inspection: Exempt vehicles do not need this step, but non-exempt vehicles must undergo inspection, including tests for power, lights, emissions, and brakes. Vehicle inspection: In the inspection area, submit the organized documents to the police for inspection, mainly to verify that the VIN and engine number match the data on the documents. After inspection, you will receive a number plate to wait in the service hall. Select a license plate number: Use the "Acceptance Certificate" to select one from ten randomly generated motor vehicle license plate numbers on the automated selection machine. After selection, the staff will print the license plate collection certificate, and you will need to pay a fee. After waiting for a period, you will receive the vehicle registration certificate and the motor vehicle registration document. Pay the vehicle and vessel tax: After obtaining the vehicle registration certificate and motor vehicle registration document, make copies and proceed to the designated area at the Vehicle Management Office to pay the current year's vehicle and vessel tax. Install the license plate: Take the vehicle registration certificate and motor vehicle registration document to the inspection area to collect the reflective license plate from the installer and have it installed.
