Can Typhoon-Damaged Vehicles Be Covered by Insurance?

Typhoon-damaged vehicles can be covered by insurance, which is divided into the following two situations: 1. Vehicles damaged by falling objects: If a vehicle is damaged by falling objects such as uprooted trees or collapsed walls during a typhoon, this falls under the category of losses caused by natural disasters and is covered by auto damage insurance. Insurance companies generally provide full compensation in such cases. In this situation, the owner should first take photos of the accident scene (if safe to do so) and then move the vehicle to a safe location. 2. Vehicles submerged in water: Typhoons often bring heavy rain and flooding. If a vehicle is submerged due to being parked in a low-lying area, the owner should not attempt to start the vehicle. Without a second attempt to start, other parts of the vehicle (excluding the engine) can be claimed under auto damage insurance. If the owner has purchased additional water damage coverage, engine damage will also be covered. However, if the engine is damaged due to a second attempt to start the vehicle, even with water damage coverage, the insurance company will not compensate for the damage.
