Can the Volkswagen Lavida play discs?

Volkswagen Lavida cannot play video discs. The CD player can only read and play music CDs or MP3 discs, while VCDs are video discs and cannot be read or played. Introduction to discs: Discs are items that use optical information as a storage medium to store data. They are divided into non-rewritable discs, such as CD-ROM and DVD-ROM, and rewritable discs, such as CD-RW and DVD-RAM. Definition of discs: High-density discs are optical storage media developed in modern times that differ from purely magnetic carriers (for example, magneto-optical discs are also considered discs). They use focused hydrogen ion laser beams to process recording media for storing and reproducing information, also known as laser discs.
I drive a 2013 Lavida. The Comfort trim back then still came with a single-disc CD player, located in that slim slot below the infotainment screen. But I heard the post-2019 models removed the CD player entirely, switching to USB or Bluetooth for phone music playback across the lineup. If you're buying a used car now, check the center console for a six-disc DVD changer bracket – higher trims used to have this feature. Current owner groups all say physical discs are obsolete, with USB drives storing hundreds of songs without disc swaps. But if longtime owners want to play their CD collections, they can install an external DVD player from auto parts markets, routing the cables through the glove compartment.
