Mercedes-Benz steering wheels can be adjusted to be looser. There are two types of steering wheel adjustment forms. One is two-way adjustment, and the other is four-way adjustment. Up and down two-way adjustment: Adjusts the vertical distance of the steering wheel. The purpose is to meet the needs of drivers of different body types for the vertical space between the steering wheel and the driver. This allows the driver to adjust the distance between the seat and the steering wheel while maintaining comfortable legroom, as well as ensuring comfort in the vertical direction of the steering wheel. Axial adjustment: Adjusts the length along the axis of the steering wheel. The purpose is to meet the needs of drivers of different body types for the distance between the steering wheel and themselves. This allows the driver to adjust the distance between the seat and the steering wheel while maintaining comfortable legroom, as well as ensuring comfort in the distance between the driver and the steering wheel.
I used to drive a Mercedes-Benz C-Class and found that in the driving mode settings, I could select Comfort mode, which immediately made the steering wheel much lighter, especially helpful during traffic jams. This feature is supported in many newer Mercedes models, such as the E-Class or S-Class, which can also be adjusted this way. If this option isn’t available, it’s best not to tamper with the steering system, as it could affect driving stability. I recommend checking the owner’s manual or visiting a dealership for advice—Mercedes’ electronic systems are quite intelligent, and forcing changes could lead to issues. While lighter steering is more comfortable for city driving, heavier steering is safer at high speeds, so adjustments should be made based on personal preference.
