Can the Power of Baojun 510 Be Upgraded?

Baojun 510's power cannot be upgraded, but there is currently an upgraded version available. Configuration: The new 1.2T engine has a power output of 96KW. The CVT automatic transmission has been very active this month. Following the consecutive releases of the new platform SUV RS-5 and sports car RC-6, this new Baojun RS-3 is very similar in appearance to the recently launched RS-5, especially in the front fascia, where the design of the grille and LED daytime running lights is basically the same as the RM-5. The RS-3 is positioned as a compact SUV, with body dimensions of 4300x1750x1600 mm, a wheelbase of 2550 mm, and a height of 1615 mm for the coupe version. Driving Experience: Driving comfort can be evaluated from three aspects: first, power; second, handling; and third, comfort. In terms of power, the Baojun 510 is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine from General Motors, delivering a maximum horsepower of 112 HP. For handling, it features a rotary knob + paddle shifters setup. In terms of comfort, the front suspension uses MacPherson struts. Performance: In terms of quality, the General Motors engine performs very stably, while fuel efficiency is a major feature of Baojun vehicles. Actual tests show an average fuel consumption of around 6L/100km.
I've had this Baojun 510 for over three years and have indeed tinkered with power upgrades. Flashing the ECU was the most straightforward solution - cost me 1,800 RMB at a local tuning shop. After the computer recalibration, the rpm response became noticeably quicker, though aggressive throttle inputs increase fuel consumption by about 1L/100km. Installing an electronic throttle accelerator can also improve lag issues - this little gadget costing around 100 RMB shows immediate effects. I'd recommend first upgrading to a high-flow air filter and mid-section exhaust, keeping costs under 500 RMB - improved intake efficiency makes acceleration noticeably peppier. But be aware these small-displacement engines have limited modification potential. While turbo kits can boost power by 30%, the transmission and half-shafts can't handle aggressive driving - my friend's car blew its transmission within three months after modification.
