Can the oil pan be cleaned?

The oil pan can be cleaned, but if the engine is operating normally, it is not recommended to clean the oil pan. After cleaning, the sealing gasket may be damaged, and improper installation could lead to oil leaks. Many vehicles that were originally fine end up with oil leaks or seepage after cleaning the oil pan, which is not worth the trouble. Moreover, with the continuous improvement of lubricant technology, normal use does not require cleaning. Cleaning the oil pan is indeed necessary in some cases, but it depends on the situation. For example, if inferior oil has been used or the engine is severely worn, cleaning may be considered under these abnormal circumstances. However, many so-called cleaning recommendations nowadays are not very meaningful, similar to suggestions for cleaning the catalytic converter or fuel injectors. For normal vehicles, excessive cleaning can actually lead to more problems.
