Odyssey Hybrid cannot be registered with a green license plate as it is a hybrid electric vehicle. New energy vehicles mainly include: pure electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles. Among them, hybrid electric vehicles cannot be registered with green license plates, while pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles can. The Odyssey is an MPV under GAC Honda, with body dimensions of: length 4847mm, width 1820mm, height 1702mm, wheelbase of 2900mm, and a fuel tank capacity of 50 liters.

I was quite concerned about this issue before, as I specifically researched new energy policies last year when I was planning to change cars. The Odyssey hybrid version is a regular hybrid, also known as HEV, not a plug-in hybrid. According to domestic regulations, green license plates are only issued to new energy vehicles such as pure electric or plug-in hybrids. Although the Odyssey hybrid has low fuel consumption, its pure electric range does not meet the 50-kilometer threshold, so it cannot qualify for a green license plate. However, if you mainly drive in the city, its hybrid system is indeed fuel-efficient, consuming only about 5 to 6 liters per 100 kilometers. I know several friends who drive this car, and they are quite satisfied with its space and comfort, but it's a bit of a pity in cities with license plate restrictions.

As an owner of the Odyssey Hybrid for three years, I can clearly tell you that this car cannot get a green license plate. When I bought it, the salesperson also reminded me of this point. It's different from plug-in hybrid vehicles, as it has a relatively small battery and mainly relies on the coordinated work of the engine and motor. The car runs very quietly, and the fuel consumption is indeed low. In the city, my family basically uses less than 6 liters of fuel, but it still got a blue license plate at the vehicle management office. Later, I learned from chatting with friends that only plug-in hybrids like the BYD Tang DM can get green license plates because they can run dozens of kilometers on pure electric power. Of course, if you don't care about the license plate issue, the Odyssey Hybrid is really practical as a family MPV. On weekends, I take my whole family out, and even with seven people, it doesn't feel crowded.

The Odyssey Hybrid definitely cannot get a green license plate. I paid special attention to this when researching new energy vehicle policies. According to national standards, only plug-in hybrids or pure electric vehicles are eligible for new energy license plates. The Odyssey Hybrid is a non-plug-in hybrid, where the electric motor mainly assists the engine, and the battery pack is too small for long-distance pure electric driving. So if you live in cities like Shanghai or Guangzhou with license plate restrictions, you might need to consider other options. However, the hybrid system is indeed fuel-efficient, saving much more money than gasoline cars for daily urban commuting, especially being very quiet during parking and starting. Honda's hybrid technology is quite mature, with low failure rates and convenient maintenance.
