Can the License Plate Be Transferred in a Used Car Transaction?

The license plate cannot be transferred together in a used car transaction. Currently, the vehicle license plate follows the person, not the car, and cannot be transferred with the vehicle. The relevant introduction to vehicle transfer is as follows: Regulations on Vehicle Transfer: "Motor Vehicle Registration Regulations": Article 18 states that when the ownership of a registered motor vehicle is transferred, the current owner must apply for a transfer registration at the local vehicle management office within 30 days from the date of vehicle delivery. Before applying for transfer registration, the owner must resolve all traffic violations and accidents related to the vehicle. Procedures for Vehicle Transfer: Fill out a Motor Vehicle Change, Transfer, Modification, Suspension, or Scrapping Approval Form; affix the same seal as the original registration, and for private vehicles, the owner's ID must be verified; proceed to the Vehicle Management Section of the Traffic Police Brigade, where the registration acceptance officer will review the application. Vehicles that meet the transfer conditions will be sent to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Section for inspection and approval; upon passing the inspection, for transfers or changes within the same county or city, proceed directly to the License Plate Management Section to await notification for payment.
