Can the license plate be retained when changing cars?

It is possible to retain the license plate when changing cars, but the following conditions must be met: 1. First, all traffic violation records of the original vehicle must be cleared; 2. The owner must have owned the vehicle for more than 3 years; 3. The original license plate must have been used for more than 1 year; 4. The application to retain the original license plate number must be submitted within 6 months after the original vehicle is transferred or scrapped. If the conditions for retaining the original license plate number are met, the owner can apply to the vehicle management office to use the original license plate number when registering a newly purchased vehicle. License plates are plates hung on the front and rear of a vehicle, usually made of aluminum, iron, plastic, or paper, engraved with the vehicle's registration number, registration region, or other relevant information.
I just got a new car recently and was wondering if I could keep my old license plate that I've used for over a decade. I went to the DMV to ask, and it turns out it's possible to retain it, as long as the plate hasn't been canceled or revoked, the car is registered under my name, there are no outstanding traffic fines, and I fill out an application form and pay a fee of a few dozen yuan. They said the process must be completed within a week, so don't delay too long—applying after changing cars would be too late. I think keeping the license plate is quite useful, especially if the numbers are auspicious or hold some sentimental value. It prevents losing that sense of familiarity when switching cars and saves some re-registration fees. Anyway, just call ahead to check local rules, prepare your vehicle registration certificate and ID card, and the whole process isn't difficult.
