Whether the license plate can be retained during transfer depends on meeting certain conditions: 1. The vehicle must have been used for at least one year to retain the original license plate, and the retention period can last up to 1 year; 2. The original license plate can be retained when the vehicle is transferred, deregistered, or relocated; 3. Both used and new vehicle purchases are eligible to apply for plate retention; 4. All traffic violation records of the original vehicle must be cleared. It's important to note that the retention period for the original plate number starts from the date when the vehicle's transfer or deregistration is completed. According to regulations, vehicle license plate numbers are assigned either through computer-automated selection or by the vehicle owner's self-selection in compliance with license plate standards. These are the only two methods available at the vehicle management office to obtain a license plate.
