Can the Driving Test Application Be Extended?

The validity period for obtaining a driver's license is three years. Within these three years, an extension can be applied for, but after three years, no extension is allowed, and the test results will be invalidated, requiring re-registration for the exam. According to Article 38 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses," applicants learning to drive on training grounds and roads must obtain a learning driving certificate as required. The learning driving certificate is valid for three years, during which the applicant must complete the subject two and subject three tests. If the tests are not completed within the validity period, the passed subject results will be invalidated. The learning driving certificate can be in paper or electronic form, with both having equal validity. Applicants can print or download the driving certificate through the comprehensive internet traffic safety service management platform. Article 53 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses" stipulates that the traffic management departments of public security organs in municipalities directly under the central government, cities divided into districts, or equivalent levels shall monthly disclose to the public information such as the examination quality of the vehicle management office's examiners, the traffic violation rate, and the traffic accident rate of drivers with less than three years of driving experience.
