Can the drained transmission fluid be reused?
1 Answers
Transmission fluid cannot be reused once drained. After prolonged operation and high-speed rotation inside the transmission, temperature increases and crankshaft wear generate microscopic metal particles invisible to the naked eye that remain suspended in the fluid. Over time, this causes the transmission fluid to thicken from its original viscosity, losing its essential lubricating properties. Signs indicating transmission fluid replacement include: vehicle vibration and gearshift jerking; transmission overheating warning on dashboard; engine stalling; and unusual noises. Transmission fluid replacement methods are as follows: 1. Drain by loosening the oil drain screw at the transmission bottom, then refill. 2. Remove the transmission oil pan for complete drainage and refill: This method provides more thorough replacement by removing contaminants settled at the pan bottom. 3. Automated transmission flush using circulation equipment: Smart circulation machines perform dynamic fluid exchange with built-in filtration to clean sludge and contaminants. Risks of prolonged overdue transmission fluid replacement: 1. Damage to gearshift control mechanisms; 2. Abnormal wear of transmission gears and clutch plates; 3. Impaired transmission operation leading to valve body damage.
