Can the DPF of China VI diesel vehicles be removed?

China VI diesel vehicles cannot have their DPF removed, as it would affect the exhaust gas content. Introduction to DPF: Basic introduction to DPF: The full English name of DPF is Diesel Particulate Filter, also known as the diesel particulate capture regenerator. It is a device that reduces particulate matter emissions in the exhaust. During operation, particles accumulate in the filter. When a certain level is reached, it can lead to a decline in engine performance and fuel economy. The accumulated particles must be promptly removed to ensure the DPF continues to function properly. Working principle of DPF: The DPF uses a wall-flow filter, which forces the airflow through porous walls by alternately blocking the inlet and outlet of the carrier holes to capture particles. The front-stage DOC catalyst oxidizes and generates NO2 from the NO produced during diesel engine combustion. After entering the DPF, the NO2 molecular bond breaks at a relatively low temperature, and the resulting oxygen reacts with the captured carbon particles to form CO2.
Last time I took my China VI diesel vehicle for maintenance, the mechanic specifically reminded me about this. The DPF, or Diesel Particulate Filter, is responsible for filtering soot particles from the exhaust. Some repair shops asked if I wanted to remove it, claiming it would save the hassle of regeneration. But you really can't remove it! Nowadays, annual inspections use OBD to directly read data—removal will immediately trigger a fault light, making it impossible to pass the inspection. Last year, my neighbor didn't believe it and removed his; within three months, he was caught during a roadside inspection, fined 5,000 yuan, and had to pay to reinstall it himself. Plus, it's a major safety hazard—truck DPFs are connected to the aftertreatment system, and forced removal can cause exhaust leaks or even fires. If you really encounter a regeneration issue, it's better to go to a 4S shop for professional cleaning or take a highway drive to let the system clean itself automatically.
