Can the car still be driven when the EPC light is on and the vehicle is shaking?

When the EPC light is on and the vehicle is shaking, it should not be driven. There are many potential reasons for the EPC light to illuminate along with vehicle shaking. The main cause could be a malfunction in the car's exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. If the EGR valve is stuck in the fully open position and cannot close completely, the vehicle may exhibit symptoms such as black smoke emissions, accompanied by poor acceleration, unstable idle, increased fuel consumption, and insufficient power. In such cases, the EPC warning light will illuminate on the dashboard. Besides issues with the EGR valve, other possible causes include: 1. Dirty throttle body with excessive carbon buildup; 2. Faults in the intake system, such as leaks or blockages; 3. Abnormal cylinder pressure and poor operating conditions; 4. Use of substandard fuel; 5. If the engine stalls due to improper operation, the indicator light may also come on. If the light turns off after restarting, it indicates normal operation; 6. Sporadic faults or false alarms.
