Can the car still be driven if the engine oil has water in it?

It is not recommended to continue driving if the engine oil has water in it. When the oil contains excessive water, its performance will deteriorate. Under certain conditions, excessive water can reduce or even nullify the effectiveness of certain additives in the oil, thereby compromising the oil's viscosity. This prevents the oil from forming a proper lubricating film on the moving friction pairs, leading to mechanical damage or even failure. Methods to determine if the oil has water in it: 1. Observe the oil dipstick—if the water content is high, the oil level will exceed the marked range on the dipstick; 2. Check the engine coolant—if there is oil in it, it indicates water contamination in the oil; 3. If the oil contains water, after the engine runs for a while, the oil will appear milky white with foam.
