Can the BMW 5 Series remotely turn on the air conditioning?

The remote start function for the fuel version of the BMW 5 Series can only activate the fan, not the engine. Only the hybrid version can do that. BMW 5 Series Configuration: It is equipped with the new BMW 7.0 operating system and other digital services. In addition to calculating real-time driving routes, arrival times, and updating traffic data, the BMW map navigation system allows drivers to input any content at any time. The intelligent personal assistant with extended functions is now also provided as standard for the BMW 5 Series. BMW 5 Series Interior: There is a 12.3-inch entertainment information screen, a redesigned center console, and a newly laid-out multifunctional leather sports steering wheel. Standard automatic air conditioning, multifunctional M seats, new interior styling, and various decorative materials have been added to the optional products. Aesthetic Design: It focuses on a new double-kidney front grille, a classic BMW design that is now wider and taller, paired with a lower front skirt. The headlight cluster has a narrower outline, with two additional U-shaped daytime running lights, and an 'L' shape is also available as an option.
I've personally used this feature, and it's truly amazing! As long as your 5 Series has ConnectedDrive services (depending on the model year), just install the My BMW App on your phone. Turning on the air conditioning remotely ten minutes before heading out in the summer is a lifesaver the moment you get into the car. However, there are two things to note: first, the car needs to be parked in an area with signal coverage, and second, there must be enough fuel or battery left in the car. Last time, I couldn’t connect at all in the underground garage, but it worked fine once I moved to the ground level. Also, the remote air conditioning can only run for 15 minutes before automatically shutting off to prevent draining the battery, which is sufficient.
It's quite straightforward to operate: Open the My BMW App, tap 'Climate Control', then adjust the temperature and fan speed. However, some older models may require the optional remote engine start feature, so remember to check when buying a used car. Once remotely started, the car's air conditioning automatically works at the set temperature, which is super handy for pre-warming the car and defrosting in winter. A safety note: When activated, the windows and doors remain locked, and it comes with an anti-theft alarm, which is very reliable. But do remember to keep the software updated—once I couldn't send commands no matter what, and reinstalling the app fixed it.
