BMW 3 Series can play MV. Introduction to BMW: BMW was established on March 7, 1916. The predecessor of BMW was an aircraft factory, initially famous for manufacturing streamlined biplane reconnaissance aircraft. The predecessor company was named BFW, and the founder of the company was named Gustav Otto. Introduction to MV: MV, also known as music video, refers to a short film paired with music (usually mostly songs). Modern music videos are primarily produced to promote music records.

I drive a 2022 BMW 3 Series and have tried playing videos through its infotainment system. The iDrive system can indeed recognize video files from a USB drive and play them directly on the screen when parked. However, you need to pay attention to video formats—it works well with MP4 and MKV, while WMV might cause issues. Interestingly, the USB drive must be formatted in exFAT beforehand; it didn't recognize my NTFS-formatted drive initially. Safety-wise, it's quite smart—the screen goes black as soon as the car starts moving, leaving only audio to prevent driver distraction. If you want to see the video while driving, you can enable the hidden feature for playback during motion, but you'll need to be extra cautious about safety.

The F30 3 Series at home is an older model, and there's a USB port below the center control screen. I've connected my phone with an adapter to play local video files and found that the car can display the video normally when in P gear. However, while driving, the screen immediately pops up a 'Driving Safety Alert' that blocks the video. I've tested apps like Douyin and Tencent Video, but the car's system only plays audio. It's recommended to use the CarPlay mirroring function, but playing videos while driving is indeed dangerous—it's better to watch them when parked. The original system is very considerate of safety, which I think is well done.

Whether the BMW 3 Series can play MV depends on three key factors. First is the vehicle year, as post-2019 models with ID7 system have better video processing capability. Second is hardware configuration - the optional 12.3-inch Professional ConnectedDrive display offers smoother playback. Finally, storage device selection matters; USB drives provide more stable performance than Bluetooth connections from phones. Operate by using the iDrive controller to select Media Library, connecting USB to the Type-C port in the glovebox. Note that European models automatically lock video during driving, but you can watch short clips at traffic lights by connecting to iQIYI via mobile hotspot.
