Can the annual inspection detect the mileage?

The mileage of the car is not within the scope of the annual inspection. Vehicle annual inspection schedule: After the implementation of the new regulations for vehicle annual inspections, cars between 6 and 10 years old must undergo inspection every 2 years. At the 6th and 8th year, the vehicle must be tested on the inspection line. For private cars older than 10 years, the original inspection cycle still applies, meaning inspections are required once a year for vehicles between 10 and 15 years old, and every six months for vehicles older than 15 years. Notes for vehicle annual inspection: Reflective strips must be affixed according to the national standard specifications. It is best to paste them under the guidance of the staff to ensure the photos uploaded to the vehicle management platform pass the review on the first try. For vehicles with 7 or more seats, such as minivans, all seats must be in place and match the number of seats on the vehicle registration certificate. Each seat must have a seatbelt.
Based on my years of driving experience, annual inspections can indeed check the mileage. Every time I go to the inspection station, the staff will check the odometer and record it, mainly to assess the intensity of vehicle use; high-mileage vehicles suffer more wear and may require focused checks on the braking and suspension systems. The annual inspection includes safety items such as lights and emission tests, but the mileage data helps understand the overall condition and prevent potential issues like overlooked maintenance. Additionally, in some regions, recording mileage can also be used to verify warranty periods or assist with recall services. However, the annual inspection does not check if the odometer has been tampered with; they simply read and record the numbers without conducting in-depth investigations. I recommend that vehicle owners keep their instruments in good condition to make the annual inspection quicker and more reliable.
