Temporary license plates can enter parking lots. If the parking lot has security personnel, simply ask them to open the gate. Typically, security will manually register vehicles with temporary plates entering the parking lot. If the parking lot does not have security, check if there is a card dispenser at the entrance. Press the button on the card dispenser, and the barrier will automatically lift. Fees will be automatically calculated upon exit. However, parking lots that rely on automatic license plate recognition systems will not allow entry because the machines cannot recognize temporary license plates. Temporary license plates serve as transitional plates for vehicle owners who have not yet obtained official plates. During this period, driving on the road requires the use of temporary plates, which carry the same legal effect as official plates. Once official plates are obtained, the temporary plates automatically become invalid, so it is essential to install the official plates as required by regulations immediately upon receipt. Validity Period of Temporary License Plates: For vehicles moving out of the jurisdiction of the vehicle management office, the validity period is 30 days. For reissuance or replacement of plates, inability to issue plates within the stipulated time, or within the same administrative jurisdiction, the validity period does not exceed 15 days. For cross-administrative jurisdiction, the validity period does not exceed 30 days. For research, prototype testing, or special-purpose motor vehicles, the validity period does not exceed 90 days. Regulations on Motor Vehicle Registration: Article 13 of the "Motor Vehicle Registration Regulations": If the residence of the motor vehicle owner moves out of the jurisdiction of the vehicle management office, the office shall, within three days from the date of acceptance, annotate the changes on the motor vehicle registration certificate, reclaim the license plate and driving license, issue a temporary driving license plate valid for 30 days, and hand over the motor vehicle file to the owner. Article 44: During the reissuance or replacement of license plates, a temporary driving license plate valid for no more than 15 days shall be issued. Article 46: For temporary driving within the same administrative jurisdiction, a temporary driving license plate valid for no more than 15 days shall be issued. For temporary driving across administrative jurisdictions, a temporary driving license plate valid for no more than 30 days shall be issued. For situations specified in Items (3) and (4) of Article 45 of these regulations, a temporary driving license plate valid for no more than 90 days shall be issued. Due to license plate production reasons, if plates cannot be issued within the stipulated time, the vehicle management office shall issue a temporary driving license plate valid for no more than 15 days.
