Can't Cars Use Windshield Washer Fluid?

Cars can use windshield washer fluid. In most models, the windshield washer switch is located on the right control lever of the steering wheel. By pulling the lever toward the driver and holding it for a while, the windshield washer fluid will spray out, and the wipers will work simultaneously. Some models have a physical button on the steering wheel's control lever; pressing it will activate the washer. Performance of Windshield Washer Fluid: Cleaning Performance - Windshield washer fluid is formulated with various surfactants and additives. Surfactants typically have functions such as wetting, penetrating, and solubilizing, which help in cleaning and removing dirt. Antifreeze Performance - It significantly lowers the freezing point of the liquid, thus preventing freezing and quickly dissolving frost. Anti-fog Performance - It forms a single-molecule protective layer on the glass surface, preventing the formation of fog droplets and ensuring clear visibility through the windshield. According to the usage environment, there are three types of windshield washer fluid: summer-use windshield washer fluid, winter-use antifreeze windshield washer fluid, and special-effect antifreeze windshield washer fluid. Summer-use windshield washer fluid contains insect repellent components that can quickly remove insect residues from the windshield. Winter-use antifreeze windshield washer fluid ensures that it does not freeze even when the external temperature drops below -20°C, preventing damage to car facilities. Special-effect antifreeze windshield washer fluid remains unfrozen even at -40°C, making it suitable for use in extremely cold regions.
I've been driving for many years and have always added windshield washer fluid to my car without any issues. Windshield washer fluid is the cleaning solution for the windshield. During daily driving, dust and insects can land on the front window, and if you only use the wipers, it can easily scratch the glass or leave stains. Adding windshield washer fluid allows you to spray liquid to clean it thoroughly, ensuring clear visibility. Every time I open the hood, I find a reservoir with a blue or light-colored cap on the right front side, unscrew the cap, and pour in the dedicated windshield washer fluid. An important tip is never to use tap water as a substitute. In summer, when the water temperature is high, tap water can evaporate and leave scale that clogs the nozzles, and in winter, it can freeze and damage the pipes. Also, when choosing windshield washer fluid, pay attention to the antifreeze rating—areas with sub-zero temperatures must use antifreeze-type fluid to prevent the system from freezing and cracking. Regularly check the fluid level, and if it's below the minimum line, top it up. Making it a habit can make driving safer and more convenient.
