Can Polishing Solve Rough Paint Surface After Spray Painting?

Automotive spray painting generally uses baking paint. In automobile manufacturing plants, after the frame and body shell are welded, the next process is spray painting. Types include ordinary paint, metallic paint, and pearl paint. The automotive spray painting process includes applying putty, sanding, and spraying paint.
Just after painting, I noticed the paint surface feels rough. Polishing can indeed improve this significantly, as I've tried it myself before. When the new car paint isn't fully dry, it's prone to collecting dust or paint mist. Using a polisher with a compound can remove these small particles and restore a smooth surface. However, be careful not to over-polish, as it can thin the paint layer. For deeper scratches or bumps, you might need to do some local sanding and respray the primer. It's recommended to have a professional handle this to avoid damaging the primer layer. Also, remember to wax the car after washing to protect it, and reducing exposure to sunlight and acid rain can delay paint aging.
