Can PHEV Operate Without Charging?

PHEV models can operate without charging. When the battery is depleted, they can switch to fuel mode to continue driving. Four common types of hybrid systems: These are HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle), PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), and REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle). HEV: Currently, mild hybrids often refer to 48V mild hybrid systems. Among various hybrid systems, the motor in mild hybrids only provides slight assistance, primarily handling auxiliary tasks that can be managed by the electrical system, such as maintaining air conditioning operation while the engine is off. PHEV: Compared to range-extended electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids have both the motor and engine capable of driving the vehicle, and their maximum power can also be increased. However, because all systems are integrated into a complete setup, this includes the engine, transmission, generator, and even the drivetrain, resulting in a heavier vehicle weight. Consequently, when the vehicle is solely driven by the engine, fuel consumption tends to be higher.
