Can Nissan CVT be replaced with a chain?

Nissan CVT can be replaced with a steel chain. There are two types of CVT transmission: chain type and metal belt type. The basic structure of a chain-type CVT continuously variable transmission achieves speed change by altering the rotational radius of two pulleys, similar to the mainstream metal belt type, with high transmission efficiency. The CVT metal belt consists of approximately 10 overlapping thin steel strips, embedded with multiple metal blocks. At the lowest gear with the smallest pulley rotation radius and when shifting to higher gears, transmission efficiency may deteriorate. Advantages and disadvantages of CVT: Advantages: The power output of a CVT transmission is linear, providing a very smooth driving experience; gear settings are flexible, making it easy to achieve a balance between gear ratio, speed ratio, performance, fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions; mechanical efficiency and fuel economy are superior to conventional automatic transmissions. Disadvantages: High maintenance costs; CVT transmissions have limited torque capacity.
