Can New Energy Vehicles Have Additional Batteries Installed?

It is not recommended because the configuration of an electric vehicle's battery pack is based on design principles. The arrangement of the battery pack, typically located at the front, rear, or center of the vehicle, is carefully considered for balance, braking, and speed. Modifications are not advised, especially since the controller is also matched to the original setup. 1. Vehicles with swappable battery configurations: If the vehicle was initially designed with a battery pack that can be replaced, it is possible to enhance the range by swapping the battery pack later. 2. Increasing battery capacity by adding battery packs: This method of extending range involves connecting an additional battery pack in parallel to the existing one. If no more battery cells can be added inside the original battery pack, the only option is to connect an external battery pack in parallel. While this is theoretically feasible, it presents certain technical challenges and risks from an engineering perspective.
