Can Long Scratches on the Windshield Be Repaired?
1 Answers
Repairing long scratches on the windshield is relatively difficult due to the following reasons: Polishing: Ordinary scratch wax cannot remove them; specialized glass polishing paste is required. However, polishing carries certain risks because the continuous friction between the polishing pad and the glass generates high temperatures. If the temperature exceeds the glass's tolerance, the glass may crack. Resin Application: Using resin with a refractive index close to that of glass is an emergency solution, but it can only be used to repair very small pits. The drawbacks of resin are also quite evident. Since its hardness is lower than that of glass, scratches will eventually reappear after prolonged use.
