Can I Take the Driving Test Subject 2 Without an ID Card?

You cannot take the Subject 2 driving test without bringing your ID card. However, if you do not have an ID card and need to use a temporary ID, you must inform the driving instructor in advance and follow the driving school's arrangements for the test. According to Article 19, Paragraph 1 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses," "When applying for a motor vehicle driving license for the first time, the applicant shall fill out the application form and submit the applicant's identity proof." Therefore, you can take the Subject 2 test with a temporary ID card. Additionally, please note the following: The temporary resident ID card is valid for three months. You can take the Subject 2 test within this validity period. If the validity period expires, you will not be allowed to enter the test site. Therefore, make sure to take the test within the validity period of the document. If the temporary ID card expires due to special circumstances, you should apply for a formal ID card or a new temporary ID card as soon as possible. Subject 2, also known as the small road test, is part of the motor vehicle driving license assessment. It is the abbreviation for the field driving skills test. For the C1 license, the test includes five mandatory items: reverse parking, parallel parking, stopping and starting on a slope, right-angle turns, and curve driving (commonly known as the S-curve). Some regions may include a sixth item: highway toll card collection. According to Article 25 of the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses" (Ministry of Public Security Order No. 123), starting from June 1, 2021, the C2 and C5 Subject 2 tests no longer include stopping and starting on a slope. For large vehicle AB licenses, Subject 2 covers 16 items: According to the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses," the AB license Subject 2 test includes: reverse parking, passing continuous obstacles, curve driving, highway simulation test, limited-width gate, bumpy road, single-plank bridge, narrow road U-turn, stopping and starting on a slope, parallel parking, highway emergency handling, mountain road simulation, right-angle turns, rain and fog weather simulation, highway tire blowout, and tunnel simulation driving.
You absolutely cannot take the Subject 2 test without an ID card. When I took my driving test, the exam center entrance clearly stated that the original ID card must be brought. The staff will use a small machine to scan and read your information, and only if it matches the registration details will you be allowed to enter for the test. Some people forgot or lost their ID cards and were directly turned away by the examiner with no room for negotiation. Without an ID card, your information can't even be logged into the system, let alone taking the Subject 2 test. My friend was sent back last time because his ID card had expired when he went to take the Subject 2 test, wasting a trip and delaying his practice time. I suggest you go and apply for a replacement ID card first, don't rush to book the test, so as not to waste time and effort.
