Can I replace just one ignition coil?

It is possible to replace just one ignition coil, but it's generally recommended to replace them all together. Typically, one ignition coil is responsible for one cylinder. If only one ignition coil fails while the others are functioning normally, it may be acceptable for emergency driving, but it can be very detrimental to the car's engine, mounts, and connecting components. If another ignition coil fails, the engine may stall automatically. The working principle of an ignition coil is as follows: The ignition coil can convert the low-voltage electricity from the car into high voltage because it has the same form as a regular transformer, with a large turns ratio between the primary and secondary coils. However, the working method of an ignition coil differs from that of a regular transformer. A regular transformer operates continuously, whereas an ignition coil operates intermittently, storing and releasing energy at different frequencies depending on the engine's speed.
