Can I renew my driver's license online?

Driver's license renewal cannot be processed online. The regulations regarding license replacement and reissuance are as follows: 1. Article 35: Motor vehicle drivers shall apply for license replacement at the vehicle management office of the license issuing authority within 90 days before the expiration of their motor vehicle driver's license. When applying, they must fill out the "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form" and submit the following documents and certificates: the driver's identity proof, the motor vehicle driver's license, and a medical certificate of physical condition issued by a county-level or above medical institution or a military medical institution at the regimental level or above. 2. Article 36: If a motor vehicle driver's household registration is relocated outside the jurisdiction of the original vehicle management office, they must apply for license replacement at the vehicle management office of the new jurisdiction. If a motor vehicle driver resides outside the jurisdiction of the license issuing vehicle management office, they may apply for license replacement at the vehicle management office of their place of residence.
I've been driving for over twenty years and renewed my driver's license several times. Nowadays, it can indeed be done online. Take myself as an example, I usually use the Traffic Management 12123 APP for the process. You need to prepare photos of your ID card, front and back photos of your driver's license, and a medical examination report from the hospital. After uploading these, fill in your personal information, and the system will automatically review it. If there are no major issues, the new driver's license will be mailed to your home in a few days. This is extremely convenient, saving the hassle of queuing up at the vehicle management office and a lot of time. However, not all areas support this service. It's generally available in big cities, but in small towns or remote rural areas, you might still need to go in person. Passing the medical examination is a basic requirement, and if you have any outstanding traffic violations, you won't be able to proceed until the fines are cleared. It's advisable to check the local traffic website in advance to ensure all materials are ready.
