Can I Renew My Driver's License in Another Location?

Driver's license renewal can be processed in another location. The motor vehicle driver should apply for renewal at the vehicle management office of the driver's license issuing location or another location within 90 days before the expiration of the motor vehicle driver's license. When applying, the applicant must fill out an application form and submit the following documents and proofs: 1. The identity proof of the motor vehicle driver; 2. The motor vehicle driver's license; 3. A medical certificate issued by a county-level or higher medical institution or a military medical institution at the regimental level or above. According to Article 58 of the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses, if the registered residence of a motor vehicle driver is moved out of the jurisdiction of the original vehicle management office, the driver should apply for renewal at the vehicle management office of the new location. If a motor vehicle driver resides outside the jurisdiction of the issuing vehicle management office, they can apply for renewal at the vehicle management office of their current residence.
Last time when my driver's license expired, I happened to be on a business trip in another city. I went directly to the local vehicle management office with my ID card, old driver's license, photo, and medical examination certificate. After filling out the forms and paying the fee, I got my new license in just half an hour. The policy supporting license renewal in different locations is convenient for people like us who are often stationed outside, saving us the trouble of going back to our hometown. I recommend trying the Traffic Management 12123 APP, which also allows online applications, saving time and effort. But don't forget to do the physical examination in advance to ensure safe driving. Having all the materials ready avoids repeated trips and saves a lot of time, making it suitable for modern mobile lifestyles.
