Can I directly add coolant if it's insufficient?

Coolant can be directly added if it's insufficient, but it must be of the same type. Different brands of coolant have varying production formulas, and mixing them may cause chemical reactions between additives, leading to their ineffectiveness. How to choose coolant: The basic indicators of coolant are freezing point and boiling point. On the market, coolants come with freezing points such as -15°C, -25°C, -30°C, -40°C, etc. Generally, choose one that is at least 10°C lower than the lowest temperature in your region. How to determine if coolant is insufficient: Observe the coolant warning light on the dashboard. If it lights up, it may indicate insufficient coolant, though it could also be due to excessively high engine temperature. Check the coolant reservoir. If the level is below the minimum mark (MIN), do not continue driving and add coolant promptly. Check the water level markings on the coolant overflow tank. The normal coolant level should be between the maximum and minimum marks. If it's below the minimum mark, it indicates insufficient coolant.
