Can I Apply for a Driver's License Replacement or Renewal in Another Location?

Driver's license replacement or renewal can be processed in another location. According to the "Decision of the Ministry of Public Security on Amending the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses" implemented on April 1, 2016, applications for driver's license renewal upon expiration, replacement due to exceeding the prescribed age, replacement due to damage, replacement due to changes in driver's information, replacement due to changes in physical condition, and reissuance due to loss can be submitted at "the vehicle management office where the driver's license was originally issued or at any other vehicle management office outside the original jurisdiction." The required materials are as follows: 1. Original ID card and one copy; 2. A printed medical examination form, with a medical condition certificate issued by a county-level or higher medical institution or a military medical institution at the regimental level or above; 3. Three 1-inch white background, bareheaded photos (one for the medical examination form, one for the application form, and one for the new driver's license); 4. Non-local residents need a valid temporary residence permit/work residence permit.
Last time I lost my driver's license and was really scared, thinking I'd have to go back to my hometown to get it replaced. But after asking the local DMV, I found out that now you can get it replaced anywhere in the country. Just bring your ID card and a photo, fill out a form, and you'll have a new license within half an hour—super convenient. After the policy reform, the process has been simplified, so you don't have to go back to your original registration location, saving time and effort. For drivers like us who are away from home all year, it's a real blessing. If you run into a similar situation, don't delay—go get it done early. Driving without a license is risky and could lead to fines. Keep a photo saved on your phone just in case, so you don't have to scramble at the last minute. All in all, getting it replaced elsewhere is reliable and gives you peace of mind.
