Harley-Davidson motorcycles can carry passengers. Generally, motorcycles on the road are allowed to carry one passenger, but they cannot carry minors under the age of 12. Lightweight Motorcycles: Lightweight motorcycles are not allowed to carry passengers (lightweight motorcycles refer to those with an engine displacement greater than 36cc but less than 49cc). Two-Wheeled Motorcycles: Two-wheeled motorcycles can carry passengers, but the rear seat cannot carry minors under the age of 12. Three-Wheeled Motorcycles: For sidecar motorcycles, in addition to the driver, the main vehicle can carry one person, and the fixed seat in the sidecar can carry one person. Three-wheeled motorcycles with fixed seats in the cabin and an engine cylinder total displacement not exceeding 250 cubic centimeters can carry up to 2 passengers; if the total engine displacement exceeds 250 cubic centimeters, the maximum number of passengers allowed is 4.

Harley's seat designs all consider passenger needs, with the rear seat actually being more spacious than many street bikes. I ride a Road King and have taken many friends for rides—the passenger grab handles and small backrest are very practical. Note that if there's a significant height difference, the passenger should hold on tight. Be careful with aftermarket exhaust pipes, as they can easily burn ankles. Short trips of a dozen kilometers are fine, but for long rides over two hours, it's best to stop and let your companion stretch. Some modified bikes remove the rear footpegs, making them illegal for passengers, and this is something traffic police will check.

Harley-Davidson comes with passenger-carrying capability straight from the factory. Those spring seats and dual-layer saddle designs aren't just for show. The Softail series offers the most comfortable padded rear seating position, while the Sport series is slightly firmer. Tire pressure must be adjusted to the two-person standard as specified in the manual. Note that the rear braking distance increases by about 30%, which is particularly important for beginners. Some veteran riders secretly install rear footpegs on solo-seat models, but this actually affects frame balance - we don't recommend such aftermarket modifications.

Last week, I just took my girlfriend to the seaside to watch the sunset. She's 168cm tall and sat in the back seat, giving feedback that the legroom was very spacious. The factory rear seats come with shock-absorbing rubber pads, making the ride much smoother compared to a sports bike. However, wind resistance is something to watch out for: when the speed exceeds 100, the wind force at the back becomes particularly strong, so remind your passenger to hold onto your waist tightly. When encountering speed bumps, slow down in advance as the rear ground clearance is small and prone to bottoming out. When refueling, the fuel tank cap is located under the hip area, so make sure the rear passenger isn't exposed to the hot fumes. It's recommended to increase the tire pressure to at least 36psi when carrying a passenger.
