Can Full Synthetic and Semi-Synthetic Engine Oils Be Mixed?
1 Answers
Full synthetic and semi-synthetic engine oils should not be mixed. The hazards of mixing engine oils include: 1. Abnormal smoke from the exhaust pipe; 2. Accelerated accumulation of oil sludge; 3. Reduced sealing performance of piston rods or piston rings, leading to discoloration or damage; 4. Increased likelihood of engine malfunctions; 5. Severe wear between pistons and cylinder walls. The functions of engine oil are: 1. To separate the surfaces of relatively sliding parts and reduce wear; 2. To carry heat back to the oil tank and then dissipate it into the air, assisting the radiator in cooling the engine; 3. To circulate carbon deposits, sludge, and wear particles from engine parts back to the oil tank, using the flow of the lubricating oil to clean contaminants generated on the working surfaces of the parts.
