Can Cars Be Repainted on Rainy Days?

Car repainting can be done indoors at an auto shop on rainy days, but not outdoors. When repainting on a rainy day, the car must first be dried in a baking room before it can be driven. Otherwise, the wet paint may be corroded by rainwater, severely affecting its appearance. Once the paint is dried indoors, an oxidation layer forms on the surface, protecting the paint from damage. In daily use, we need to pay attention to car paint maintenance by: 1. Washing the car promptly after rainy days; 2. Waxing the car regularly to effectively block strong UV rays from the sun; 3. Purchasing scratch insurance, which allows timely claims from insurance companies to cover part of the owner's losses.
I've been in this business for almost 20 years, and I absolutely don't recommend doing paint repairs on rainy days in auto repair work. You see, with high air humidity, moisture can seep into the paint, causing surface fogging and bubbling, and significantly prolonging drying time. Painting requires a room temperature between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius and humidity below 60% for proper adhesion. On rainy days, humidity often exceeds 80%, making the paint molecules bond poorly, which can lead to cracking or peeling in no time. I've encountered this several times myself when clients insisted on getting it done in the rain, only to have to redo everything a week later, wasting both time and money. Now I advise car owners to wait for clear weather or find a shop with a professional paint booth equipped with dehumidifiers. Remember, good painters always work according to the weather—don't cut corners for convenience.
