Can an Electric Vehicle Be Started While Charging?

New energy vehicles can be started while charging, but they cannot be shifted into gear for driving. Precautions for charging an electric vehicle are as follows: Turn off the headlights: Since electric vehicles do not have engine idling, remember to check if the vehicle's power is turned off before leaving. Generally, the headlights and low-power electrical equipment in new energy vehicles are powered by the vehicle's battery. If left on for a long time, the battery can easily be depleted. Avoid using in-car devices: This is because simultaneous charging and discharging of an electric vehicle can lead to a decrease in the battery pack's lifespan. If the discharge power exceeds the charging power, it may result in reduced battery capacity or even over-discharge of the battery.
When I tried turning on the air conditioning while charging my electric car, it was technically possible, but the safety manual states 'not recommended.' The manufacturer's regulation mainly considers dual risks: the high-voltage electrical system is in operation during charging, and starting the vehicle at this time might impose additional load on the electrical system. Moreover, the charging port contacts are very sensitive, and moving the vehicle could cause the interface to loosen and spark. Once during winter charging, I wanted to warm up the car in advance, but after running it for ten minutes, I smelled something burning. Later, inspection revealed that the charging module had overheated and triggered an alarm. If you must temporarily start the car, certain conditions must be met: the charging gun must be locked, the vehicle must be in P gear, and models that automatically disconnect the high-voltage connection are relatively safer.
