Can an automatic transmission car be put into N gear when parking?

An automatic transmission car can be put into N gear when parking, but if you need to turn off the engine, you must shift into P gear to do so. Some cars can be turned off without shifting into P gear, but the key cannot be removed. The N gear is suitable for short-term parking without turning off the engine. Both automatic and manual transmissions have an N gear, which is the neutral gear. After shifting into N gear, the car cannot move. Automatic transmissions also have a P gear, which is the parking gear. After shifting into P gear, the car also cannot move, but P gear is different from N gear. P gear has a locking mechanism; after shifting into P gear, the locking mechanism can lock the transmission gears, which indirectly locks the wheels.
