Can Airbags Be Installed Aftermarket?
1 Answers
Airbags cannot be installed aftermarket. Airbags refer to the vehicle occupant restraint system, where the airbag is designed to rapidly inflate and then deflate during a collision. It consists of an airbag cushion, flexible fabric bag, inflation module, and impact sensor. The purpose of an airbag is to provide a soft cushion and restraint for occupants during a collision event. Airbags in vehicles are categorized into: 1. Frontal airbags: The driver's frontal airbag is installed in the center of the steering wheel. To avoid accidental deployment, do not strike the center of the steering wheel forcefully; 2. Passenger airbags: These are located in the front passenger seat and rear seats; 3. Side airbags: These are placed on the outer side of the seat or installed on the upper frame of the side door; 4. Knee airbags: These are installed below the dashboard to cushion the legs from injury during a severe impact.
