Can a self-priming pump for water also pump oil?

Self-priming pumps can pump diesel. Reasons why it can: Because the density of water is greater than that of oil. The density of diesel is: 0.810~0.855g/cm^3, while the density of water is 1g/cm^3. Since a self-priming pump can pump water, it can certainly pump diesel. Working principle of a self-priming pump: Before starting the pump, the pump casing is first filled with water (or the pump casing itself contains water). After starting, the impeller rotates at high speed, causing the water in the impeller channels to flow toward the volute. At this time, a vacuum is formed at the inlet, opening the inlet check valve, allowing air from the suction pipe to enter the pump and reach the outer edge through the impeller channels.
