Can a puncture on the sidewall of a tire be repaired?

A puncture on the sidewall of a tire cannot be repaired, and the tire must be discarded and should not be used again. However, if there is only a small puncture and it is not leaking air rapidly, it can be repaired. But if there are fine cracks on the tire sidewall, it should not be used for long-distance or high-speed driving, as the thinner sidewall is prone to blowouts at high speeds. There are many methods to repair a puncture on the tire tread because the tread area experiences only uniform stress during rotation, making repairs effective. In contrast, the sidewall undergoes deformation with each rotation when it contacts the ground. Additionally, the sidewall has fewer reinforcing cords and insufficient strength, making it impossible to use plug strips or install mushroom plugs. Any patches applied would also peel or break due to repeated bending.
