Can a Naturally Aspirated Engine Be Converted to Turbocharged?

Naturally aspirated engines can be converted to turbocharged by installing a turbocharger. However, it is necessary to replace the pistons with lower compression ratio ones and reinforce the internal components of the engine; otherwise, the engine may not withstand the increased power and temperature. Naturally aspirated is a type of engine intake system where air is drawn into the combustion chamber by atmospheric pressure without any supercharger. Naturally aspirated engines offer smoother power delivery and more direct response compared to forced induction engines. TURBO stands for turbocharging, which can be categorized into four types: mechanical supercharging, pressure wave supercharging, exhaust gas turbocharging, and compound supercharging. Essentially, a turbocharger is an air compressor that increases the engine's intake air volume by compressing air, thereby enhancing the engine's power and torque, making the car more powerful.
