Can a Motorcycle Be Driven on the Road Without Insurance?

Motorcycles cannot be driven on the road without insurance. Compulsory traffic insurance (CTI) must be purchased, while ordinary commercial insurance can be chosen freely. If CTI is not purchased, it is advised not to drive the motorcycle on the road. If caught by traffic police, the consequences may include: 1) the vehicle being impounded, 2) being required to pay the CTI premium, and 3) a fine of twice the CTI premium. Introduction to Compulsory Traffic Insurance (CTI): CTI, short for 'Compulsory Traffic Accident Liability Insurance for Motor Vehicles,' is a mandatory liability insurance where the insurance company compensates for personal injuries, deaths, and property losses (excluding the vehicle's occupants and the insured) caused by road traffic accidents involving the insured vehicle, within the liability limits. CTI is a Mandatory Insurance: CTI is China's first mandatory insurance system implemented under national law.
