Can a Lost Mercedes Key Be Located and Retrieved?

Mercedes keys cannot be located or retrieved after being lost. The basic components of a remote key consist of the following two points: Transmitter: Composed of a transmission switch, transmission antenna, integrated circuit, etc., it contains an identification code storage circuit and an amplitude modulation circuit, with a button-type lithium battery installed on the opposite side of the circuit. The transmission frequency uses radio waves, and the transmission switch button sends a signal once each time it is pressed; Receiver: After the transmitter sends the identification code using shortwave modulation, it is received by the car's shortwave antenna and enters the shortwave high-frequency amplification processor of the receiver's electronic control unit via a distributor for demodulation, where it is compared with the demodulator's identification code.
Last time I lost my Mercedes key, I was so anxious. I immediately took out my phone and opened the Mercedes me app, which has a positioning feature but requires prior setup—it's useless without an internet connection. I hadn’t set it up that time, so I rushed to the 4S store. They remotely deactivated the old key to prevent car theft and then issued me a new one, which cost over 2,000 yuan. I recommend everyone to bind the app properly and check the location history regularly—this way, if you lose your key, you might still recover it. Otherwise, the loss is significant and causes delays. Although the key design is smart, it relies on your maintenance—don’t slack off.
