For a car purchased through a loan, consent from the lending bank is required. Once approved, the vehicle's motor vehicle registration certificate, commonly known as the 'big green book,' must be retrieved from the bank. Then, you can apply for a color change at the vehicle management office. Without the green book, color change registration cannot be processed. According to Article 6 of Chapter 2 of the 'Road Traffic Safety Law,' if the color change area of a motor vehicle does not exceed 30%, no registration for the change is required. Conversely, if it exceeds 30%, the change must be filed and registered within 10 days after the repainting. Notes on Vehicle Color Change: Before repainting a motor vehicle, consult the vehicle management office where the vehicle is registered to check if the region permits changing the vehicle color using wraps. If the region does not support this method, the change cannot be registered, and the wrap must be completely removed to restore the original color. Documents required for applying to change the color of a motor vehicle: 'Motor Vehicle Change Registration Application Form.' Original and photocopy of the identity proof of the vehicle owner and agent. Original motor vehicle registration certificate. Original motor vehicle license. Clearance of all fines. Additionally, according to Article 10 of the 'Motor Vehicle Registration Regulations,' owners are no longer required to apply in advance to the vehicle management office. They can first change the vehicle color, install body kits, replace the engine, etc., and then apply for change registration. According to Article 10, registered motor vehicles must apply for change registration under the following circumstances: Change of body color. Replacement of the engine. Replacement of the body or frame. Whole vehicle replacement due to quality issues. Change from commercial to non-commercial use or vice versa. Change in the vehicle owner's residence in or out of the jurisdiction of the vehicle management office. Furthermore, according to Article 15 of the 'Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China': Police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, and engineering rescue vehicles must display emblem patterns as regulated and install alarms and signal lights. Other motor vehicles are prohibited from displaying, installing, or using emblem patterns, alarms, or signal lights specific to or similar to those of the aforementioned vehicles.
