Can a Car with Push-Button Start Be Locked Without Turning Off the Engine?

A car with push-button start cannot be locked without turning off the engine. For push-button start models, the vehicle must be turned off in P (Park) gear to completely cut off the power. If the engine is turned off without being in P gear, although the engine stops running, the vehicle cannot be powered off, and the doors cannot be locked. Therefore, if the engine is not turned off in P gear, you need to press the start button again before getting out of the car to completely cut off the power, allowing the doors and steering wheel to be locked. Using the push-button start when the car is in P or N (Neutral) gear does not harm the engine. However, turning off the engine while the car is in gear can cause some damage to the vehicle. Additionally, for safety reasons, it is best to press the brake pedal before using the push-button start to turn off the engine. The steps to turn off a push-button start car are as follows: Press the brake pedal, bring the vehicle to a smooth stop, shift the gear from D (Drive) to N (Neutral), engage the parking brake, release the foot brake, press the brake pedal again, shift the gear from N to P (Park), release the foot brake, and then press the push-button start key to turn off the power and complete the engine shutdown.
