Can a Car with Engine Oil Leak Pass the Annual Inspection?

Engine oil leak is not a serious issue if it's minor and doesn't affect the inspection. However, if there is significant oil leakage under the chassis with a high frequency, the inspection will be denied as it may compromise the safety of the inspection equipment and the driver. It's best to resolve the issue before the inspection: First, address the issue of oil burning, and then proceed with the annual inspection. Currently, exhaust emission tests are quite stringent. If the engine burns oil, the emitted exhaust is unlikely to meet the standards. Although a minor leak may not affect the inspection, it is advisable to resolve the oil burning issue first. Causes of oil leakage: Using poor-quality engine oil or oil with an incorrect viscosity grade. Low-quality engine oil can accelerate wear and tear. Additionally, oil with viscosity that is too low or too high can lead to poor engine lubrication, increasing wear on piston rings and cylinder walls, reducing sealing performance, and resulting in oil leaks.
